I should dictate more often
I'm dictating this blog post into my MacBook while walking on my treadmill. Shortly before this, after feeling like my keyboard was an annoying bottleneck, I started dictating notes to prepare for an upcoming interview. Feeling chuffed about that, I then dictated a quick journal entry capturing some thoughts about a medication I'm taking. And now I’m here.
I should dictate more often! Even though I'm a pretty quick typist (100–140 WPM depending on the stars), dictating is faster. And I suspect — admittedly with no supporting empirical evidence at hand — that it opens up some different pathways in my brains, which might lead to something I wouldn't have discovered through typing alone. At the very least, it feels freeing, perhaps because it requires less cognitive overhead compared to managing the typos and punctuation on the keyboard. Or just because it’s novel. But hey, if it works, it works.
That is all. Back to interview prep.
