Thank you, 1Password

And goodbye.

In contrast to my recent goodbye to Xfinity, which was more in the spirit of a middle finger, I have mixed feelings about this one.

1Password has been great. I signed us up for the family plan back in April of 2017. It filled a need, the price was reasonable, and the user experience was quite good. I’ve been a mostly happy customer ever since.

And then along came Apple’s Passwords app. It’s baked into the Apple ecosystem, where I’ve been entrenched for a long time now. It feels simpler, especially with Safari. It’s free, meaning I get a few dollars back in my pocket and have one less subscription to manage.

I moved myself to Passwords for a couple months to test it out. I was happy with it, and eventually moved my wife over. Finally, just this week, with two days left before our annual 1Password renewal, I moved my mother in law and deleted our 1Password family account. Finito.

Thank you, 1Password. We had a good run.
