Change your car's air filters yourself
I just started doing this recently, and I’m kicking myself for not starting earlier!
It’s easy, at least on my cars. Search YouTube and you’ll probably find a video of someone showing you how to do it with your specific vehicle. I just changed the engine air filter on my 2024 Telluride for the first time, and it wasn't much harder than changing a light bulb. It took maybe 2 minutes start to finish.
It’s cheap. My dealers want to charge $60–100 to replace each filter. Meanwhile, the filters themselves cost around $15. If you’re wondering where to buy online, I’ve seen rockauto.com recommended by a few different folks, but you can also buy them on Amazon. Of course, consider supporting your local auto parts store if you have one.
It feels good. I’m guessing most of us feel some sense of accomplishment when we do something productive with our hands away from screens. I sure do!
